Spotlight Athlete: Kait Boyle

Congratulations to Kait, June’s spotlight athlete!

Kait was chosen because of how hard she works everyday, not only in the gym, but in everything she does! She’s a hard working single mom, that works overnights as a nurse, and still makes the time to get to the gym and crush workouts. Kait pushes herself in almost every class, lifting heavy weights, and doing hard things, when so many others would, and do look for every excuse not to. She’s extremely kind and is always willing to help others out.

What do you do for work?

I have been a registered nurse for the last 16 years. I was a nurse in the Intensive care unit (ICU) for 10 of those years and I traveled throughout different hospitals in Mass. Currently, I work nights at Newton Wellesley hospital in the post anesthesia recovery unit (PACU).

What would you like us to know about you and your family?

Family means everything to me. I grew up in East Bridgewater and ended up back here when I bought my first home. I have three brothers and am a proud single mom to my  11-year-old daughter, Aurora who is my whole world. Two years ago, I suddenly lost my mom to a heart attack. She was not only my mother but also my best friend, and her loss has deeply shaped who I am today. My Dad lives in North Carolina and I cherish every opportunity I get to go visit him

What is one thing that we may not know about you?

I’m left handed. I had right hip surgery.

How long have you been training and what time do you typically train?

Jess being the great friend she is, helped me find my way back to CrossFit after the sudden loss of my Mom. It’s been one of the best things for me mentally and physically. I am very thankful I found this community. I have been involved in CrossFit since 2013 but never consistently throughout those years due to life changes. I train during the 9am or evening class depending on my work schedule.

What is your favorite lift and why?

Deadlift is my favorite lift because at the end of the day, picking heavy things up and putting them down never gets old

What is your most memorable time as an athlete?

Running a sub 6 minute mile; 5:45. Setting a school record for 4x400 relay race or winning Hingham track meet in the two mile run on the last 100m.

How has training impacted your life outside of the box?

It has taught me discipline, resilience, and confidence by pushing me to do hard things consistently. The mindset I developed during challenging workouts has helped me handle stress, stay committed to my goals, and trust my ability to overcome obstacles. CrossFit has also connected me with a supportive community and encouraged healthier habits that have improved my overall quality of life.
