Spotlight Athlete: Logan Timpany
Congratulations to the Spotlight Athlete of August, Logan Timpany
Since joining Cynergy last year, Logan has proven time and time again that he is willing to take on any challenge and try new movements, classes, and experiences. He has truly taken full advantage of the wide array of classes Cynergy has to offer.
You might see Logan tackling our First In Fitness class, taking on the Army Fitness Test early Saturday morning, working hard in Hyrox, or getting after it in our Sunday All-Levels Fitness class. Most often, though, you’ll find him at the 6AM class during the week!
Logan is an outstanding athlete who is always willing to put in the work to improve his strength and build on his already impressive endurance. You’ll see that endurance on full display when he’s cruising through a run or attacking the rower while maintaining an aggressive pace.
It was especially great to see Logan perform so well in our recent Games of the Ages competition. He hit a Power Clean PR and, along with his partner Matt Russo, logged the most calories during a grueling 2-minute row in Event 2.
Logan is doing great things at Cynergy, and I couldn’t think of a more deserving person to be recognized as our Spotlight Athlete.
Congratulations, Logan! Keep up the great work! 💪
What do you do for work?
As an Aircraft Dispatcher for a small private airline, my role involves evaluating aircraft takeoff and landing performance, preparing flight plans, ensuring flights adhere to weight and center of gravity limits, analyzing weather conditions, checking for airport restrictions, and acting as a supportive resource for pilots to guarantee safe operations.
What would you like us to know about you and your family?
Family is incredibly important to me, and I cherish the moments I spend with my young nieces and nephews. My goal is to pass on the importance of family to the kids and teach them to always look out for one another.
What is one thing that we may not know about you?
During the summer, I enjoy kayaking around a lake near my home. I'm also a licensed pilot; while I love flying recreationally, the high rental costs mean I don't get up in the air as often as I'd like!
How long have you been training and what time do you typically train?
I usually attend the 6am class, and this upcoming September marks one-year since I started training at Cynergy.
What is your favorite lift and why?
The deadlift stands out as my top choice for lifting. It provides an incredible full-body workout, and there is an unmatched sense of achievement when you successfully heave a massive barbell that initially seemed completely beyond your capabilities.
What is your favorite WOD and why?
I don’t have a single standout WOD that I prefer over the others. What makes every workout special for me is Cynergy’s amazing community. On top of that, I can constantly see the daily progress I’m making, both physically and mentally, thanks to my time here.
What are your current life goals?
Earlier this year, I traveled to Bozeman, MT, and had the chance to visit Yellowstone. The breathtaking beauty of the landscape and nature completely blew me away, as it was my very first time experiencing the outdoors in such a profound way. Moving forward, my goal is to explore more national parks and take in the incredible landscapes that this country has to offer.
What is your most memorable time as an athlete?
Hitting my 1 RM deadlift is my most memorable moment. Before achieving that, I never imagined I could complete a heavy lift.
How has training impacted your life outside of the box?
The impact of training is something I experience every day. Beyond the improvements in my strength, the mental advantages have been clear. I deal with far fewer instances of brain fog, my focus has sharpened, and my stress levels have decreased.
